If your bonsai is outside, there is a pretty good explanation why it might have crystals on the branches. It is winter still, and that is when frost comes, you probably have ice crystals on your plant. Try feeling your plant and see if the leaves and soil is cold, in case it is freezing. If it is freezing, bring it inside immediately and give it some room-temperature water.
Your bonsai could also have a disease. Since your plants give water out of its leaves, it could be letting the water out and having it freeze as soon as it hits the air. Try brushing your plants down with a paper towel steadily to not break the leaves and to get the crystals off. Otherwise, the water you are giving it could have a disease. You could experiment by not using tap water (if you are) and use filtered water and see if your bonsai continues to have those strange crystals. Or, if you are giving it filtered water, give it tap water to see what happens then.

In my opinion, jewelry that is made entirely out of gold, 18K or better, will sell the best. The problem is that jewelry often sells for several times the worth of the gold in it. So you start pretty deep in the hole.
Bullion coins, like Krugerrands or Pandas, sell much closer to the price of gold, and will appreciate more.
